The first stage occurs at the beginning of your prescription drug coverage. This is the period when you pay for your prescription drugs in full until you meet your yearly deductible amount. After the deductible is met, you move into the Initial Coverage stage.

Initial Coverage section: Change to say “Often called the Initial Coverage Phase, you’ll pay the plans copays or coinsurance until you reach a total out-of-pocket drug cost of $2,000 for the 2025 plan year.
Catastrophic Coverage Expand Collapse
After you reach a total of $2,000 in 2025 in out-of-pocket prescription drug expenses, you will pay $0 for covered Part D drugs. This phase lasts until the end of the plan year.
